One of the first things I look for when visiting a page like this is a sign that the community is still alive.

Possible ways to show visitors that we're an active community:

• list of upcoming events
• blog / news feed (this would be a good place to promote upcoming events too)
• link to Slack with the number of currently active users

Feel free to create a new index page for me. There's already a blog, so I assume a list of upcoming events would just be tacked on to that right?

Yes, the Slack thing should be done. I'll add a label to have this done.

If there's a blog, upcoming events should really be posted to it. There are no regular jsnz events so we don't necessarily need a list.

What do you think of adding a summary of recent blog posts to the front page?
