Description:
Selecting both linux and linux-lts kernels along with the NVIDIA Open driver, the packages (e.g., nvidia-dkms, nvidia-utils, headers for linux-lts and linux) are not installed after the installation completes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Run archinstall
2. Select linux and linux-lts kernels
3. Select NVIDIA Open driver
4. Complete installation
5. Post-install: nvidia-smi says it cannot find the driver
6. Post-install: pacman -Qe shows installed packages xf86-video-amdgpu xf86-video-ati vulkan-radeon xf86-video-nouveau vulkan-nouveau
7. Post-install: pacman -Qe shows no NVIDIA packages or headers installed

Expected behavior: NVIDIA Open driver dkms package, Nvidia Utils and headers for both linux and linux-lts kernels should be installed after system installation is complete.

Actual behavior:
NVIDIA packages and headers are missing from the system after installation.

Could you attach the install log and the config JSON (user_configuration.json), and say which profile you selected (Desktop/Xorg/Minimal/none)?

For the profile, I selected Desktop KDE Plasma and then chose the plasma-meta option. I had to manually install the NVIDIA open DKMS driver, and the headers for both linux and linux-lts. I did not save the configuration file after the system installation, so I ran archinstall again without performing a full installation and chose the same options. The version is now 4.3. The last time I used archinstall version 4.0 or before that, the NVIDIA driver, and headers installed fine.

Could you attach /var/log/archinstall/install.log from the original install? Each pacstrap call is logged as Installing packages: [...], which will tell us exactly which gfx driver actually ran.

I tried to find the install.log file and the archinstall directory, but i can't locate them on my system. I’m using Btrfs with snapshots and snapper. Interestingly, I tried using archinstall in a VM and everything was installed correctly. I’m not sure I want to reinstall my system on hardware to confirm whether it was user error, but this has happened twice before.

similar problem:
I have an nvidia video adpater.
In old arch installers, there is a dedicated option for video drivers, when I select nvidia-open/nvidia-open-dkms, there is no problem.
In the newest arch installer (2026.04.01), no dedicated option for video drivers, and I select nvidia-open in applications, installation completes, login screen shows, but after logining, black screen.
