Multiple Users for Open Drone Log? #121

|
Just downloaded Open Drone Log (thank you so much for creating this, Arpan Ghosh, and had some questions for how to utilize this for team members at work as we are new to the drone field. I work at a small nonprofit where we respond and rescue sick and injured marine mammals and sea turtles to rehabilitate and release them back to their ocean home. |

I am super happy that my project is coming to such use. What you can currently do, use individual instances (on desktop) for each pilot keeping them separate or host this on a server (possibly behind a reverse proxy) for both of them to access and upload in the same instance. They can tag (or bulk tag) their own flight with their name, so they will be able to filter the logs based on that. If you are fine with having access it each other's log files (both can manage, delete, export, download etc), this is the best approach in my opinion. |

Hello @dronemommy You may find v2.27.0 useful for your needs. Read the Release description to understand what is the new This release was created specifically because of your request and the purpose you serve. It may not work as a robust multi-user setup with full ACL, but good enough for your system, you can use a single instance with multiple profiles. manageable for small groups with trusted people. Remember they can delete each others profile, but this should be be an issue for your case. |

good news @dronemommy To support your cause, i took this initiative. I have implemented the data access and password feature in 2.27.1 (recent release). This secures the API level access, so this is considered secure unless you have a already compromised server. I hope you guys enjoy this new feature! I still strongly suggest to keep the instance behind a well-known reverse proxy to ensure best security policies if you decide to open this to the internet. otherwise, for local network, internal network or desktop access, this is plenty. You can now have multi-user access as requested, so this issue is officially closed as completed. |

Hi Arpan,
Thank you so much for your quick response and sharing all this information with us. Unfortunately, we are very new to this, not very tech savvy, and are not having success after reading through what you previously sent. We have created a profile username and password under the default tab, but seems only one profile is actively storing data.
When one pilot logs out and the other logs in with this same profile information (with their respective Open DroneLog desktop application on their respective laptop) , they are unable to see any of the flight data recently imported.
Could you please break down in layman's terms how we can have multiple users on the same profile?
We are a team of 2 pilots that would like to use the same login information on the same local network to update flight logs for our work fleet of 4 drones, in addition to having respective pilot information data. Please let us know what other information we can share to help figure out how to move forward.
Thank you so much for your time and help on this, we really appreciate it!
Best Fishes,
Cristina

@dronemommy Have a look at this option : https://github.com/arpanghosh8453/open-dronelog#hosting-open-drone-log-for-teams This is what you are looking for! But as it is a hosted service, it comes with a fee.
