Equation number of Formula not working while transferring from pdf to md/html

I want the equation numbers which are in the pdf to be extracted in latex for md/html. Equations are extracted well but the equation numbers are missing. I want something like $$(a+b)^2= a^2+b^2+2ab$$ /tag(eq-1.3) Can someone help me?
