IDEA and glassfish 7 dont like redeploy

Hi,

I already did a bug report https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-381850/galssfish-redeploy-wont-work-as-expected but still wonder if there is a setting on glassfish side I can force glassfish to completely reload any libraries on redeploy completely and not ignore resource files?

Any ideas?

Hi, @kbachl , are you talking about html or xhtml? If it's html, are you sure that it's not cached by the browser even if it's reloaded in GlassFish? Does it work with Payara or both Payara and GlassFish face the same issue?

Its html for wicket. Wicket stores the html next to the java class files in the src/java/... folder.
So when the app gets redeployed its expected to have the changed class file as well as the changed html file there. However, this one doesnt work somehow with IDEA 2025.x and glassfish 7.
If I do a full cycle restart + deploy on fresh started gf7 server it works.

Browser error can't really be as I get a java runtime error in my case as the component hierarchy inside the changed wicket java class doesn't align anymore with the changed html file itself. (they need to be correctly aligned for wicket to work). So it seems to me that glassfish upon redeploy from intellij idea 2025 doesn't really reload the whole JAR file (that is inside the WEB-INF/lib folder of the war) that contains class+html but instead only swaps out changed classes from the jar and ignores the changed html.
The jar file itself is correctly changed as I can tell because when I manually unpack it and check the contents they are both correct.

So I wonder what can trigger this behaviour. Does gf7 have any optmizations on terms for resource loading from libraries that cache something?

When using payara 5 this issue didnt really exist. It seems new to me since I use gf7, of course it could also be a bug in intellij IDEA itself.
