Installation fails on Arch-based systems due to missing gnome-shell-extension-prefs

I’m trying to install this tool on CachyOS (Arch Linux–based) with KDE Plasma as my desktop environment, and the installation fails when it attempts to install gnome-shell-extension-prefs.

From what I’ve found, this package no longer seems to be available in the Arch repositories (it may have been deprecated or merged into another package).

Is there a workaround for Arch-based systems, or can this dependency be skipped or replaced?

You should still be able to install the tool minus the auto window profiles (which is still very useful). Try bypassing it, it can be skipped
I will post you how to do it later if you cannot.
Basically all it does is allow gathering of the window names to allow automatically switching from one profile to another.

If you can find a way to get the currently selected window class that should work. I have not forked for various distros because previously my ventoy permanent installs wouldn't work, I will retry in time..

To skip it do I just take out the package from the installation command "_installWayland.sh" I'm not sure how to proceed.

Start with that. Once installed you can monitor logs with "naga debug".

If the service is crashing you'll be able to see there. It should just manage that one tho. You will be on defaultConfig by default that's all no matter what app you are using example chrome..
All functions and context etc works still the same.

If you want you can install vscode and some AI extension like github copilot but I found openAI codex to be much faster and stronger. Install git extension too and you should get some source control to see edits.
Then ask it to manually test out ways to get an equivalent to the gnome extension running on your pcs and when it find one make it suggest a way to fix the wayland impl for your distro. The goal being gathering window class names.

I was able to go through with the installation process removing gnome-shell-extension-prefs. But commands don't seem to be working, the service is running.

Seems to be working. Seems the command aliases are not registering or the executables are in improper location for that idk yet. Try getting the logs of the service it's the same as naga debug.

I have been troubleshooting for a while. naga didn't work because the install script only writes an alias for bash and I'm using fish nagaWayland however did work. The default config did work and I was able to create my own configs and they are working. I switch between them with one of the buttons.

I am not a developer of any kind, so at the moment this is a bit daunting for me. I would love to have automatic profile switching but for now this works good for me. Thank you for the help

I modified the multi-distro dependencies installs if you want to test it out on arch and tell me more ! (with the aim of having auto profiles working)
If auto profiles still do not work please try out installing this manually : https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4974/window-calls-extended/
(it's pretty easy to install from browser !)

Keep your old modified install around just in case, or in your case I believe you have done more than simply bypass gnome extensions.

To access the naga commands you can directly access the compiled naga file on your system :
/usr/local/bin/nagaWayland

to set up the alias on arch you may try :
"sudo ln -sf /usr/local/bin/nagaWayland /usr/local/bin/naga"
It will create a symlink inside bin and should be available for any terminal or whatever.

if that doesnt work, remove it sudo rm /usr/local/bin/naga , and try something else like a fish function :
"function naga; /usr/local/bin/nagaWayland $argv; end; funcsave naga"

I'm also using CachyOS with KDE Plasma.

I tried the quoted command after and without modifying anything about the way it installed (I cloned the repository and ran sh install.sh wayland). It worked! At least, it allowed me to run the command naga edit and the binds seem to work.
