watcher.py not polling/watching when input shared via samba

Hello there.
Installed latest ocrmypdf via docker from docker hub. Works fine, but won't detect files that are dropped onto docker-volume (input) via samba-share. Even with USE_POLLING set to true, nothing happens after a file has been copied to input. LOGLEVEL set to DEBUG doesn't show anything either.
Files dropped via SFTP onto docker-volume (input) are correctly detected and processed. Any suggestions?

So far I was only able to use samba shares in connection with "fswatch" run on the host as a workaround.
Files which are dropped onto the samba share on the host are detected by "fswatch" and then moved to the configured docker-volume input-folder of ocrmypdf.
