creating section by points

Is there a way to create an SHS type of geometry only by points?

I am getting an error message , I am not sure why, I am following the manual.

As per the documentation, the facet list should be a list of tuples containing int (integers), your facet list contains float (this is what the error is telling you). Also you have several repeated points e.g. (0.0,0.0) in your points list, this may lead to an error or unexpected behaviour. Further, if you are creating an SHS I suspect you will also need some holes?

From your point list I can't really make out an SHS section, perhaps if you provide a sketch of your geometry I can assist? If you are just combining rectangles the from_points() method is probably not the most user-friendly approach, maybe you could consider set operations.

Set operations are great!
Is there a way to assign material to geometry created from the CompoundGeometry class as per the pic below:

When you create the Geometry object you need to pass it a material object:

ptGeomEle=list(map(lambda x: Geometry(geom=x, material=mat),ptPoly))

This material is preserved when you combine multiple Geometry objects into a CompoundGeometry object.

Hi @GiorgosCham

You are passing a CompoundGeometry object (totalGeom) to the getCentroid function. The error is telling you exactly what is going wrong here, calculate_geometric_properties() needs to be called on a Section object.

A lot of the answers to the questions you are asking can be found in the documentation. I spent a lot of time producing this documentation so would appreciate if you could try searching it prior to posting here. Regarding get_rc, see here. Per the same link, get_c will return the centroid.

There is no doubt, this is probably one of the best section designers I've ever seen. I will take the time to read the manuals carefully, it's smth I haven't had the time yet to do. Thx @robbievanleeuwen.
