Panos Kalatzantonakis

CTO · PhD Researcher · Builder of things that actually work

I've been writing software for 20+ years. Since 2019 I've been leading teams..
Right now I'm also deep in a PhD, applying AI and reinforcement learning to metaheuristic optimization, mostly in logistics, where the problems are real and the constraints are merciless.

I'm interested in the intersection of algorithms and intuition: when you can't solve a problem exactly, what's the smartest way to get close? That question drives most of my work.

🔬 Currently

  • Researching AI/RL-driven metaheuristics for Operations Research
  • Building a multi-tenant payment gateway, NestJS monorepo with crypto, e-wallet, and bank/card providers, event-driven via RabbitMQ
  • Working on odds-hub, low-level sports data infrastructure: TCP socket feeds, SDQL/XML parsing, NDJSON pipelines
  • Exploring where large language models are actually useful in algorithmic decision-making
