Hey, I'm Jan 👋

I've been building native apps for 15 years. Started with Android, picked up iOS along the way, now I lead native app development at CHECK24 Profis in Berlin, shipping products that a few million people actually depend on.

Somewhere between that and raising a toddler, I started open-sourcing the tools I wished existed. That turned into 185+ repositories, and I haven't figured out how to stop yet.

You might've used one without knowing. A geofencing library that refuses to die when Android kills your app. A splash screen that doesn't fight Jetpack Compose. A WebView bridge that lets you write one API for both platforms instead of two. App startup orchestrators for Android and iOS. An app size analyzer that tells you where your bytes went before App Review does. The featured work below shows what I'm actively maintaining.

I write about all of it on Medium, mostly things I figured out the hard way so you don't have to.

Why sponsor?

Every library I maintain is one less thing you have to build yourself. But keeping them alive takes time I'm running out of. My evenings used to be mine. Now they belong to a two-year-old who negotiates harder than any product manager I've met.

I'm not replacing a salary. I have a day job I love. A sponsorship just means I can keep saying yes to pull requests, issues, and that next library idea sitting in my notes.

The foundation. Three sponsors means every active library stays maintained, issues get answered, and I keep building in public.
