New page.screencast API provides a unified interface for capturing page content with:

Screencast recording — record video with precise start/stop control, as an alternative to the recordVideo option:

Action annotations — enable built-in visual annotations that highlight interacted elements and display action titles during recording:

screencast.showActions() accepts position ('top-left', 'top', 'top-right', 'bottom-left', 'bottom', 'bottom-right'), duration (ms per annotation), and fontSize (px). Returns a disposable to stop showing actions.

Action annotations can also be enabled in test fixtures via the video option:

A newer version of playwright exists, but since this PR has been edited by someone other than Dependabot I haven't updated it. You'll get a PR for the updated version as normal once this PR is merged.

Closing as part of the 2026-04-13 final closeout. This one-wave product closeout intentionally leaves dependency refresh as a later maintenance lane instead of keeping the remote PR surface noisy.
